Magic (more properly called "Magic: The Gathering") is a collectible card game published by Wizards of the Coast which also publishes various other games.

One of the interesting aspects of this game is its vast scope. New sets of cards are released each year, and many of these new cards feature new game rules. Because the rules are printed on the cards, the game is constantly changing and evolving. This also allows the possibility of inventing new cards with new rules, which is what we've done (hence this web site).

But it's not that simple. Inventing new cards requires skill and the willingness to adjust your cards to balance the game play. It's possible, but not useful or interesting, to invent a card which says "You win", but since we play by drafting cards somewhat at random, there's a chance that if you create such a card, your opponent will end up with that card. It's important, therefore, to create cards which are fair, but interesting, and involve new rules and interactions with existing card rules.
